Newcastle Triathlon Club is once again hosting the annual Newcastle Foreshore Triathlon.

Date: Sunday 5th February 2012
Swim: 400m Bike: 16km Run: 4km
Maximum Entrants: 300 (minimum age 15 on 31st December 2011)
First Wave: 7:00am
Categories (male + female): 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+, Open

Individual: $75
Team: $120
PLUS $10 per non Triathlon Australia Member (Individual Max: $85, Team Max: $150)

Triathlon Course Details

The race compound is located next to Customs House.

The first wave will start from Queens Wharf at 7.00am.

SWIM LEG - 400m

The 400m Swim will begin at Queens Wharf on Newcastle Harbour. Swimmers will swim along the shoreline until the first pier (opposite Customs House). There will be upto 6 waves starting approximately 3 minutes apart. Race waves will be advised of on race morning.

CYCLE LEG - 16km

Racers complete 5 laps of a 3.2km course between Customs House and Newcastle Beach.

RUN LEG - 4km

Racers complete 1 lap of a 4 km course from Customs House out to the Nobbys Lighthouse and back through Camp Shortland.




Triathlon Australia Membership

Non Members of the National Triathlon Association, must pay an additional fee. This additional fee will give competitors a One Day Membership of Triathlon Australia. This One Day Membership covers a limited amount of public liability and personal injury claims. For more information on membership to Triathlon Australia visit www.triathlon.org.au.

Online Entry Process

To enter the event click on either the Individual Entry or Team Entry button above. Enter your race and personel details and then click on the next button. This will take you to a confirmation screen.
Click the Proceed To Payment button. This will take you to Strata Pay, a secure payment system where you can make your payment online with mastercard or visa card.
You will be sent a confirmation email, so please be careful to enter the email address correctly or the confirmation will not reach you.

Race Rules

The Newcastle Foreshore Triathlon is run under the rules of Triathlon Australia. For information about these rules please visit Triathlon Australia at www.triathlon.org.au.
This is a non drafting race which means that participants must not form packs in the cycle leg and should remain at least 7 metres behind the front wheel of the bike in front (except when passing).

Prizes

The individual or team with the fastest aggregate time in each category is declared the winner for that category. Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters in each category.
All participants in the event will receive a commemorative race shirt if entered before 5th January 2012. There will also be random prize draws during the presentation.

Race Safety

Your safety during the race is of paramount importance. Participants are advised to prepare adequately for the event.
You should drink plenty of water before and during the event and apply sunscreen before the race.
Marshalls will be placed on the course to direct and assist you, however it is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with the course. Please note normal road rules apply to this event.
The team from St Johns Ambulance will be available to administer First Aid and will have an ambulance on standby at the race compound.
During the swim leg you may rest on a buoy but you must not move forward. If in trouble, raise your hand for assistance.
During the cycle leg approved helmets must be worn properly. When cornering, please consider your speed and other participants.
Drink plenty of water whilst riding or running. On the run leg you should wear a hat and use the drink station to re-hydrate.
If you are having physical difficulties please advise a marshall.

Race Registration

Race registration is where you confirm to officials you will be racing and then you will collect all official race numbers and kit required to race.

Race registration and race kit collection will take place at Omega Cycleworks at 55 Broadmedow Rd Broadmeadow on Saturday 4th February between 1:00 and 4:00pm.

Last minute race kit collection will also take place at the race compound near Customs House on Sunday 5th February from 6:00 - 6:30am

At Registration you will be required to produce some form of photo I.D. (drivers licence, T.A. licence).
One team member can pick up the race kits for the whole team.
Once you have been identified you will be issued with your race kit containing:

swim cap
race numbers
bike security stickers and
electronic Timing Band (Note, a fee of $50.00 per timing band will be charged if these are not returned after the race).
The Newcastle Foreshore Triathlon Race Shirt (one per participant).
